Underground explosions are part of the normal operation of LKAB. The controlled blasts between 1:15-1:45 am smash the rocks in the ducts, then they remove the fumes by a few hours of ventilaton and the morning shift starts to processes the ore around 5am. Carefully paying attention, the underground explosions can be heard and felt in the old town.
