The “ice crisis” occurs during a winter day when the temperature gets above freezing point and partially melts the snow/ice layer on the roads. Then in the evening, it freezes down again turning the town into a massive ice rink. We caught the last operating bus from downtown back home, all the others were canceled when the cold hit. Our driver promised “No worries I’ll get everyone back home” and then demonstrated the most perfect winter driving possible with a large bus full of passengers. On the way we passed many cars and buses immobilized and/or ended up off-road. Finally, as promised, we got home after a detour from the downtown chaos.
