After 8 years of a pause, I got inspired by the World Athletics Championship in Budapest (2023) and started thinking about racing again. This time without a coach, I only relied on myself. I read books and online materials to come up with a proper training plan.

My philosophy this time was to come back step-by-step with well-planned training concepts and achievable goals. Knowing my weakness on the endurance level, I didn’t run away from long runs and tried to mainly focus on collecting miles and building strength in my first months of preparation.

My best sources were:
Colorado Track Club training plans
Peter Hoffman: A practical 800 meters running philosophy
Niko Schultz youtube channel
Crossing the Golden Training Divide: The Science and Practice of Training World-Class 800- and 1500-m Runners
